Hyundai revises Grand i10 line-up

Hyundai has revised its small car range in South Africa, doing away with the entry-level i10 derivative in favour of an extended Grand i10 line-up. Simultaneously, the brand has added new features to the six models in the range.

Hyundai had a relook at the choice the Grand i10 offered, changed some specifications and added a new entry-level derivative powered by a one-litre engine. The result is a model range that encompasses a variety of derivatives which offer exceptional value.

They believe the wider choice of the larger-sized Grand i10s will offer affordability to young, first-time buyers as well as to customers who want a second family car with generous features, or to motorists who want to downscale to smaller, yet comfortable, vehicles.

Three derivatives in the range are each powered by one-litre, three-cylinder engines which deliver 48kW and 94Nm. The remainder are fitted with 1,25-litre, four-cylinder units which deliver 64kW and 120Nm.

Gearbox choices include five-speed manual shifters or four- or five-speed auto transmissions, while specification levels encompass Motion, Fluid and Glide derivatives. Prices start at R149 900 for the 1,0-litre Grand i10 Motion, topping out at R206 900 for the 1,25-litre Grand i10 Fluid auto.

All derivatives have airbags for driver and front passenger and anti-lock brakes, while remote controls on the steering wheel include buttons for Bluetooth connectivity. An integrated microphone at the front also forms part of the upgraded features list across the range, along with air-conditioning, central locking and a trip computer.

Under the front passenger seat is a handy storage tray, while the driver’s seat belt’s shoulder mounting point is height-adjustable. Fluid and Glide derivatives boast convenience features such as electrically powered and heated outside mirrors and an infotainment centre with a large, full-colour touch-screen. A navigation system is a R2 500 option.

Interior styling includes black cloth upholstery for Motion and Fluid derivatives, while Glide variants feature black leather with red cloth inserts, as well as matching red inserts in the doors, on the centre console and on the instrument panel. Fluid and Glide derivatives boast keyless entry.

Boot space measures 256 litres, with up to 1 202 litres cargo volume available when rear seats are folded down.  All Grand i10 derivatives are also equipped with a full-size spare wheel. The flagship Glide derivative features park distance control sensors in the rear bumper.
